Samsung's Galaxy Gear is unlikely to kick smartwatch demand into high gear if early reactions are any indication. The Gear is "way too large and heavy," remarked tech analyst Daniel Matte. "I personally think the camera embedded in the strap is quite obtrusive and ugly." Also, the smartwatch has less than one day's battery life, "which is not adequate for the mass market consumer."
